In recent years, the rapid development of optical transmission technology and the amount of explosive growth of IP data services have made the network's bandwidth capacity increase sharply, the demand for bandwidth is growing vastly. With the business particles growing and transmission rates increasing, the survivability of the modern transport network, which means network security and business protection, has increasingly become the focus of public attention.Optical protection ensures network fault recovery by switching to hardware redundancy. Recovery time is the switching time of optical switching devices, during which loss of data will still exist. Thus, the integrity of data transfer is directly affected by the switching time of optical switching devices.Currently, the optical switching in the optical communications field is achieved by the optical switch and it will take some time for the optical switch to switch. With the current high-speed communication, even a very short switching time can also cause great amounts of data loss for optical fiber communication. Therefore, how to reduce or even eliminate the optical signal switching time, thus achieving a signal switching without data loss is an important field of optical communications research direction.Based on this background, this paper processed the data signal switching loss for the relevant theoretical research, studied and tested its detection methods. Designed and implemented all optical signal switching solutions based on optical switch, tested and obtained a series of waveforms and results which achieved all-optical signal switching without data loss. This paper completed the following specific researches:(?) The process of data loss detection mechanism of signals during optical switching.(?) Designed and implemented all-optical signal switching based on optical switch, including the control circuit and related implementation of mechanical optical switch, electro-optical crystal optical switch and switch pair on the linkage.(?) Based on the results above, designed the optical signal switching detection programs, tested whether there is data loss during the signal switching process.The experiments leaded to the following conclusion:through the proposed design method, no data loss during the switching process in all-optical switching can be guaranteed.
