As a pre-4G technology which use OFDM/FDMA as key technology, LTE improves and strengthens radio access technology. LTE has broad prospect abroad as a international standard and is becoming the great choice which plays a important part in the long evolution to mobile broadband era for global Telecommunications Operator.In order to realize S1 handover in LTE system, this paper analyse the S1 handover and relative procedure based on the LTE system infrastructure and protocol software, research handover algorithm and design handover scheme. In this paper, we propose a scheme in order to achieve a smooth handover in LTE system from the point of control plane signalling management. With the cooperation among every module in the eNodeB, we achieve the smooth LTE S1 Handover including data forwarding and make sure no packet is missing. Based on the theoretical analysis, this paper gives a pratical test to our module. We verify the expected result and cetify the correctness of our scheme.The full text can be divided into three parts:the system architecture of LTE and the scheme of eNodeB, the analysis of LTE Protocol software, the implement of S1 Handover and the analysis of the test result. First,we analyze the architecture of LTE system and proposed a scheme of LTE eNodeB in the first part. Then we give a detailed research and analysis about the structure of LTE software protocol from the aspect of user plane and control plane. After that, we propose a scheme for eNodeB protocol software which is mainly about the signaling and procedure of S1 Handover in the second part. Based on the previous research, we design and achieve the S1 Handover procedure and achieved S1 Handover in the network test in the third part.In summary, this thesis designs and implements a S1 Handover Module in LTE system based on network test. The results of the test shows that we achieve the S1 Handover perfectly and matches theoretic analysis well, laying the foundation for further research on S1 Handover and other LTE key procedure and design for better handover stragtegy.
