Nowadays, with the rapidly development of wireless communication technology, in communication area, the wireless communication playing a more and more important role. The aim of modern network study is to provide Quality of Servie(QoS) guarantee for different kinds of service and also improve the network efficiency as much as possible. As a competitive technology of the next generation of wireless network, Wireless Metropolitan Area Network (WMAN) has taken the problem of providing QoS guarantee for different applications into consideration. This paper introduces a variety of broadband wireless access technology and its characteristics, and then focuses on the IEEE 802.16 the MAC layer protocol. Next, it introduced the concept of QoS scheduling algorithm and some common, and previous studies were compared. A novel efficient dynamic bandwidth allocation algorithm based on IEEE802.16, namely fixed cyclic polling in pipeline dynamic bandwidth allocation (FCPP-DBA) algorithm, is investigated. Two level bandwidth allocation mechanisms, bandwidth pre-request for UGC service and smallest bandwidth request allocated first principle for nrtPS and best effort (BE) services are applied in FCPP to allocate bandwidth to each service. Therefore, FCPP meets QoS requirements effectively in a multi-service access scenario. A simulation is conducted to study the performance of PCPP-DBA algorithm in IEEE 802.16 system. Compared with the traditional DBA algorithm, FCPP meet QoS requirements excellently and adapted OFDM-PON better with higher bandwidth efficiency and lower complexity.
