With the rapid development of remote sensing technology, it becomes richer and richer that people obtain the necessary of multi-spectral, multi-resolution, multi-temporal remote sensing image. But it is corresponding that managing massive remote sensing image data storage, organization and scheduling increasingly is difficult. Therefore, the key technology of the Earth-based data storage management of massive images, real-time browsing, and fast retrieval is of great significance.This paper describes in detail the current research status of cache method of three-dimensional visualization platform on the storage, management, and calls. Then on this basis, multi-version image cache data management is proposed and characterized by exploration. Detailed study specifically is as follows:1. The efficient integration and management method of massive, multi-temporal, multi-source image data– multi-version image data organization and management strategy is presented, to form a global integration model of image organization and management.2. Design the model of remote sensing image cache data storage and call, and build the multi-pyramid complex model suitable for mass image data storage and management based on the method of RS image data block division. Explore the generated format of the image cache, and present the JPEG-PNG complex cache mode. Finally, the XML format has been studied for the storage method for image metadata.3. Analysis data source and data content of the platform, and introduce the pre-processing of data in detail, including the choice of spatial reference system, data pre-processing, and data quality validation for preparation of the data organization and management later.4. Design the structure of image cache storage platform in detail; put forward some effective solutions of the practical problems for the image database construction, data management and maintenance. Finally describe simply the procedure of data search and call.5. This paper describes the application of the results, and statements made to verify the program proposed, and the next steps are discussed.
