In modern industry, the enterprises have paid more attention to the concept of modern factory automation (FA) with the development of manufacturing process and automation technology. During the process of production in the factory, the kinds of industrial devices are connected by the field bus, therefore there need to collect, process and transmit a large number of data in high speed. And it is the problem how to achieve real-time communication based on field bus technology between PLC with the underlying devices to imply distributed control that needs to be resolved immediately in the modern industrial control system.In the view of the above situation, this paper has served in the project of economical numerical transformation of common milling machine servo control system according to actual production requirements, and then imply Mitsubishi Q series PLC and related components to link each individual modules in the production line and build a common vertical milling machine control system, which can realize synchronous control on multiple milling based on CC-Link field bus technology. This project has been accomplished as follows:1. This paper describes the study status of milling machine motion control and the new achievements of CC-Link field bus technology at home and abroad, and then put forward the content, purpose and significance of the project.2. According to the general principles and the movement pattern of milling feed, this paper has optimized the feed control system and established the simplified model of mill feed movement, which is based on the features of jog operation and automatic operation. There also has set the evaluation criteria of the servo control systems referring to other evaluation methods of servo control system.3. This paper has designed the related control modules according to the control requirements, and mainly selected the master PLC, motion control PLC, servo drives and CC-Link communication modules, which built a CC-Link motion control network for 5 milling machines.4. This paper has assigned the communication parameters, I/O address of master/slave station according to the principle of milling machine motion control and CC-Link network communication requirements, and also written the communication initial programs of master/slave station. In addition, this paper has programmed the PLC movement control procedures on a typical machine part, which can provide a theoretical and experimental verification on the distributed control and remote control of milling machines.5. This paper has tested the process of milling a typical part, found the problems, analyzed their causes and propounded the improved preliminary scheme.The PLC control system based on CC-Link field bus network provides a completely control solution, which can achieve the distributed control on the production line in high speed, high efficiency and high flexibility. It also can greatly improve the reliability and maintenance of the control system, and verify the superiority of CC-Link Network used to control for milling machine. Therefore it has great industrial application value that we are engaged in studying PLC and CC-Link field bus control technology.
