With the increasing in complexity of embedded systems, and geometric growth in data processing capacity, espesailly in aerospace, industrial control, medical, communications, and other important areas, the real-time and reliability is particularly important in embedded systems.This paper analyzes the VxWorks embedded system in the precision timer and memory management, providing some new ideas and improvement.In the timer module, the old methods which can not provide the level of milliseconds, can not meet the needs of users. For more than demand, a design of timer is provided, which is highly efficient, accurate and millisecond in precision timer module. The design uses the system auxiliary clock, through the clever design of the new traversal methods to save a great deal of time to ensure that the timer of real-time.In the memory management module, a new memory management applies to VxWorks named Adjustable Memory Management. Through the introduction of a new ordered list, statistical value and so on, we focus on how to reduce the external memory fragmentation, how to allocate memory fast, how to release fast, as well as how to improve the utilization of memory. A new concept and realization comes out.
