Passwords are used in the vast majority of computer and information systems for authentication. Textual-passwords are the most popular ones, but there are still some drawbacks in security and memorability. It has been proved that graphical passwords are possible alternatives to the traditional textual-passwords because of the great security and memorability. In this paper we propose a new graphical password scheme called FDP (Free Drawing Password) which is an extension to DAS and YAGP. The main aim of FDP is to be a scheme which can offer a free experience of authentication. Videlicet, users of FDP can be not restricted by the absolute size, position and coding of images when ones draw the password. The new concepts of the dynamic grid and the blocks are raised to describe the characteristic of images for partial matching. Meanwhile, FDP adopts thrice-register to create multi-template which makes the extraction of character more exact and better memorability. The implement of FDP scheme is given in this paper and based on the prototype several experiments are conducted. In the experiments, the two threshold values of the scheme are fixed on, and the results of the experiments illustrate the effectiveness of FDP in usability, memorability and security.
