Since anisotropic media coating can effectively reduce the radar cross section (RCS) of the target, the application of anisotropic media coating has great significance in the field of target feature recognition. The focus of this thesis is to study the scattering characteristics of anisotropic media, systematically analysis of the scattering from the anisotropic media and the target coated with anisotropic media is presented respectively, which includes:1. The basic formulas of the FDTD analysis of the scattering from the anisotropic target are deduced, analysis of the electromagnetic scattering from the two-dimensional (2D) cylinder and square cylinder composed of the isotropic media as well as the anisotropic media and their counterparts that coated with anisotropic media is presented in detail respectively, and the results have been verified. The influence of the coated medium on the absorbing effect is discussed in terms of changing the parameters of the coated media, the coating thickness and the coating techniques.2. The study of the scattering from the three-dimensional (3D) targets composed of the isotropic media as well as the anisotropic media and their counterparts that coated with anisotropic media is further developed. Taking sphere, plate and simple composite objects for example, the influences of the medium parameter, the coating thickness and the coating technique of the coated medium on the scattering from target coated with anisotropic media are mainly discussed. The performance of the multi-layer absorbing material is also numerically discussed.3. The influences of thicknesses, medium parameter and partly coating technique related to the coated media on scattering from some typical warhead and aricraft are investigated and discussed, which are also compared with results from different methods and the validity is well verified.
