In the industrial production process of round-shaped external diameter material such as quartz glass tubes, rubber tubes, we need to measure the external diameter of the material exactly to reach the client's requirements of common difference. Because of traditional touchable measurement cannot satisfy with this requirement and also affect products quality, the usage will be limited. Online laser diameter measurement by means of lots of strengths such as its simple structure, reliable work, can work under terrible situation like high-temperature, radiation and high-vibration which makes it became a mainly external diameter measurement technology. So, it is significant to explore the appliance of online non-contact round tube external diameter measurement.This assay discuss in detail according to the principle of laser scanning measurement of glass tube, use the way of relative measurement, put forward the main schedule of laser diameter measurement appliance and design the software and hardware part of the appliance. Use single chip AT89S52 and CPLD EMP7128 as its core; develop laser diameter measurement appliance input and output signal, photoelectric conversion, laser driver, signal processing, man-machine interface, communication interface, main program, data processing and communication mode of circuitry and software. Adopted effective anti-interference method, can measure the external diameter of round tube exactly even under terrible situation. After the lab test and in-field use:online laser diameter measurement appliance is stable, reliable and the technology standard reached expected design requirement.
