Cleanout is a necessary process in manufacturing process of electronic information products to ensure the quality and reliability. Conventional cleaning technique extensively uses detergent whose ingredient is organic solvent. However, the organic solvent generally has heavy pollution and highly toxicity. For example, ODS and VOC may bring harm to human health, destroy ecological environment and produce danger of burning and exploding. In this paper, a new-type water-based detergent for electronic process is researched in detail by studying the contamination and its cleaning mechanism in manufacturing process of electronic information products. The research aims to enhance the stability and security of detergent, meet the requirement of environmental needs, energy economization and emission reduction. The detergent is mainly made up of water with a small quantity of surfactant, high boiling point solvents and cleaning assistant. It has the following advantages: strong ability of cleaning, good corrosion resistance, good electrical characteristics, high efficacy, environment-friendly, safety. On the basis of the surface tension and solvency theory, surfactant and high boiling point solvents are properly selected to use in PCBA, steel stencil for printing and tin stove for wave-soldering.The mixture systems containing multi-components surfactant and high boiling point solvents are screened out by orthogonal experiment. The mixture systems have the advantages of high emulsification and good solvency for contamination of flux residue, for example, rosin, resin, organic acid, thixotropy agent and caustic ion etc.The results show that synergistic effects caused by multi-components lead to the excellent cleanout ability .In the end, the behaviors of detergent are characterized. The cleanout ability, electrical characteristics, corrosion resistance and material (PCB, flux, solder paste, solder wire) compatibility tests are carried out. Then optimal formulation of the detergent is obtained and its reliability is confimed. The optimum cleanout process has been gained by small-scale and middle-scale experiments in factory. The new-type water-based detergent has great application value.
