Design And Implementation Of Online Examination System Based On Campus Network

Web applications expand with the rapid development of computer applications. The online examination system becomes the hot spot of network research and application. Traditional examinations need to spend a lot on both human and material resources in order to build questions paper, grade the test paper, and so all aspects, and the site of the examination must also be fixed. These drawbacks don't make traditional examination patterns adapt to modern society. Developing online examination system is an inevitable in the future, because online examination system is convenient for examination candidates and performance management.The online examination system based on the campus network presented in this paper is used in the education system of Weifang First Vocational Technical secondary school. The result shows that the system improves the efficiency of teachers, and achieves the automation of the examination. The paper analyzes the value of online examination system, explains goal and feature of network testing system by comparing results of present study. Finally, security of the online examination system is discussedIn this paper, by comparing B/S construct with C/S construct, the designing pattern is developed, and functions of the system are presented.The online examination system is based on Web technology, applies the ASP dynamic web technologies, Visual Basic, VBScript scripting language and HTML Hypertext Markup Language for programming. The system can randomly select question from question bank without time-space restriction. ASP (Active Server Pages) is server-side technology developed by Microsoft. ASP is different from the client-side technology, the difference is that:In the process of Web page development, the client-side technology requires that Web browser can call scripting language, but for the large number of client's browser, scripting languages supported is different, so the client-side technology dependent on the browser. As a server-side technology, the ASP is handled entirely on the server side, thus eliminate dependence of client browser. Applying ASP technology, the online examination system is successful developed, the system includes question form, multiple choice, fill-in, judge questions, quiz questions, discussion questions. The paper descripts many technologies used to implement the system.In this system, the administrator creates question bank about variety of examination questions, and manages questions, testing recorders, users, etc. Using the system, teachers can randomly form examination paper according to select style of examination. The Uses can query recorder. As regards the method of realization, the server side uses SQL server 2000 database system and the ASP-ADO components to build back-end services of the examination system, which realizes the connection between the webs and database, question paper is formed by drawing question using random function. Through the SQL statement, analysis of the student's recorder is achieved.In the end, the author summarizes the online examination system.
