The Research Of Wiki Knowledge Database

With the development of the internet technology and the arrival of we2.0 era, the Wiki Knowledge Base has been another important platform for knowledge communication after the BBS and Blog. As a new mode of cooperative knowledge creation, the Wiki Knowledge Base has owned its distinctively operational mechanism and showed its strong vitality in development. The targeted and empirical study to the Wiki Knowledge Base, especially to the Wikipedia—the most successful part of the Wiki Knowledge Base, will be useful to deepen our knowledge of it and find out the law of its development. Based on the illustration of the origin of the Wiki Knowledge Base, its basic principles and application, this essay, will expand from three operational mechanisms, namely, quality control, copyright management and long-time data preservation.First, the origin of the Wiki Knowledge Base, its basic principles and application will be introduced. Preliminarily, It will elaborate the background of the Wiki Knowledge Base on the following three aspects: the development of the Wiki technology, the emerge of the Wikipedia and the urgent needs for new knowledge creation mode of the users on internet. Then, it will distinguish and define the Wiki Knowledge Base, and analyze its features. The basic principles of the Wiki Knowledge Base will be analyzed from two aspects: technology devices applied in the Wiki Knowledge Base and functional modules later. Applications of the Wiki Knowledge Base in all aspects will be explained in the end.Second, it will discuss the quality control mechanism of the Wiki Knowledge Base. It will firstly elaborate its content quality control tactics on the basis of analyzing its quality control standards in entries content, then analyze the existing problem and control tactics in its quality control to metadata. At last, it will come to the analysis of the elements and control tactics of quality control to data access.Third, it will analyze the copyright management mechanism of the Wiki Knowledge Base from two main trends and contents opening with no restriction of copyright licenses—The GFDL(GNU Free Documentation License) model and CC(Creative Commons Licenses) model, and discuss the compatibility of these two models in the existing copyright system.At last, it will discuss the long-term preservation mechanism of the Wiki Knowledge Base. By setting the example of Wikipedia, it will conclude its way of data- presenting, audit systems and applying policies, analyze its long-term preservation mode, then promote the specific management strategies for long-term data preservation of the Wiki Knowledge Base.
