The quality of product is greatly influenced by the product assembly. About 1/3 of human source are engaged in the assembly-related activities during the production progress. And more than 40% of the production costs are applied to product assembly in industrialized countries. So product assembly algorithm is widely researched in many countries.Product assembly planning algorithm and its realization were both studied in this thesis and the thesis was composed of two parts which were researching of product assembly planning algorithm and development of product virtual assembly system. Algorithms used for complex product assembly planning were studied deeply and many of the assembly algorithms were analyzed in this thesis. On this basis, intelligence optimization algorithms (Genetic Algorithm and Ant Colony Algorithm) were focused so that a product assembly sequence planning algorithm was put forward and a product assembly information model used for complex product assembly planning was built. Not only components'self information was described by this product assembly information model, but also the hierarchical relationship and assembly relations between product components, as well as the constraints and transitive relations between assembly design parameters of different levels of assembly objects were all represented by this model. The design parameters, assembly arrangement and assembly information of different assembly objects were transmitted completely and accurately in this model, so that this model can be the core of dada management during product designing progress and can also be a powerful tool to support the development and design of product. On the base of this model, a product virtual assembly system was designed and developed, which consisted of a product component database management subsystem and a demonstration subsystem. The management of basic information in product component database, such as adding, deleting, modifying, searching and so on, was realized in the product component database management subsystem. And product assembly sequence generation, assembly sequence optimization and assembly process demonstration were all realized in the product assembly demonstration subsystem.
