The trend of modern mobile communication base station technology is mainly towards the standardization and modularization. New distributed base station divides traditional macro base station into two parts:baseband module and remote radio module. The two parts is connected by fiber. CPRI is the standard protocol to regulate the interface between the REC and the RE in the internal base station. Several domestic and foreign multinational telecommunication equipment manufacturers launch it. Now the majority of telecommunication operators and equipment manufacturers have recognized CPRI as the universal standard.Nowdays the Communication equipments market is highly competitive, it is very concerned by equipment manufacturers and project managers about how to reduce product development costs, especially how to reduce the testing costs which occupy a large proportion of product development. Considering the RRH development and production, we need a test system for the RRH. BBU simulator can simulate the key features of baseband processing. Compared with conventional testing methods BBU simulator can make cost-effective test for RRH.BBU simulator is the most importantpart of the test system. The paper carries out the BBU simulator software implementations. The transmission between BBU simulator and RRH is based on CPRI protocol. The paper designs the CPRI interface parameter and test indicators of BBU simulator with the combination of RRH test requirements. Summarize and analyze BBU simulator functions needed to be implemented and put forward the whole system architecture. After the analysis of hardware platform and operating system, the design of the application layer software platform is carried out. Application software platform is composed with CPRI interface implementation, RRH management systems and interaction with PC. Describe the CPRI interface software design and RRH management system structure and main function modules in detail.The interaction between BBU simulator and PC needs to complete the data report, downlink tset data's transmission and the main CPRI data packet capture. Based on the analysis of BBU simulator functional requirement, analyze the main message flow of application layer software platform and design the main functions of RRH management systems.Finally, according to the needs of RRH development and testing, build the RRH test environment to test the cell's establishment, uplink and downlink channels and CPRI data packet capture with the analysis of the test method, and analyze test results.The test results show that BBU simulator can meet the functional requirements.
