In this thesis, we mainly discuss the implementation of the convolving circuit and it's use in max-correlation image matching. At first, we give out an overview of image matching algorithms and analysis the max-correlation in detail. Then we discuss the parallelism in the original and transform formula of max-correlation algorithm. According to characters of the algorithm, a large scale 2-dimensional convolver architecture has been presented and also has been verified on FPGA. The circuit we design can do 128 pairs pixels convolving computing in a clock cycle. Then we use VHDL and Active HDL tools complete the logic design, we also verified the circuit by mapped it into the XINLINX Spatan 3 series field programmable gate arrays.The third part mainly focus on the real-time image matching system. The system mentioned in this part consisted by a DSP and a programmed FPGA as it's coprocessor, the coprocessor only use for the convolution computing. We describe the method we taken to implement the systems, list out the work we have done in this project. At last we give out our conclusions about the whole thesis and perspectives to the future work.Utilizing programmed CPLD and FPGA, the matching system achieves the aim of real-time processing and also is a common use multi-functional system.
