The residence time of the balloon is longer than the airplane and its cost is cheaper than the airplane, so the electronic equipment of balloon-borne surveillance radar could operate for long time in the air, which has better developing prospect for military and civil operation. It is necessary to study on location system of the balloon-borne radar.In this paper, the study is made for the location system of certain balloon-borne surveillance radar, and the operation principle and composition of the location system is analyzed for deep study of multiple location modes. The integrated navigation location mode (GPS and electron compass) is designed, and the engineering projects such as signal detection, location and orientation and the relative circuit related to the communication control are achieved.The certain balloon-borne radar location system in this project integrates the advantages of GPS and inertial navigation technology. The theoretical analysis, design, test and implement are made deeply for GPS location technology and inertial navigation technology to realize the prototype of the location system of certain radar system and achieve the prospective requirement. This has certain reference value for design and implement of the location system of other type balloon-borne radar system.
