Network Design Of Telecommunication Service Supplier Operation Support System

This paper, based on the upgrade of an operation support system of a mobile telecommunication service provider, discusses the corresponding network design technology involving primarily the network topology design, the network hierarchical design, layer 3 switching technology, VLAN segmentation strategy, routing protocol selection and firewall technology. It elaborates on the idea, principal, design, construction of the layer 3 switching and the diversity of access methods the layer 3 switching entails. The detailed configurations of Cisco router, layer 3 switch and Cisco PIX are also given. It also explains on the basis of a concrete case of a mobile telecommunication service provider the architecture of supporting network, the network scheme and security management. In network design, it analyzes layer 3 topology, VLAN segmentation, layer 3 switching, EIGRP routing protocol, and PIX firewall configuration.
