Research And Implementation Of Videophone Automatic Answering Technology

As the third generation communication (3G) technology comes into a new era, traditional voice calls are getting out of the chief position in the wireless communication, while video phone technology is taking the place which has been an important means of communication. But in the actual process there are a lot of problems, such as someone is not convenient to answer the video phone in some situations but he/she is afraid to miss important calls, or simply forgets to bring a cell phone or the ring tones are so low that he/she finally misses important video phone calls and so on.Firstly, this paper, based on current video phone services and application, makes a research and analysis on current videophone technology and its basic principles. And the author focuses on technologies of automatic answering features, and describes H.324 frame, H.263 and AMR coding, H.245 protocol, and DTMF technology, and works out a feasible technology for video-phone calling programs.Secondly, the paper based on Qualcomm's BREW platform for mobile communication terminals, the author works out a function that operators do not need to get involved but simply add relative modules on users'terminal software to achieve automatic answering function. It enables the users to choose an automatic answer and/or record a video message while they are inconvenient or missing the calls. Any additional software can be added, deleted and modified according with customers'needs.Finally, the function has been applied and test successfully on ZTE H3G mobile phones.
