Large format color scanner with USB interface is playing an increasingly important role in the field of military, mapping and printing. The performance of the communication interface makes a direct impact on data transmission rate and occupies an important position in manufacturing scanner.The overall framework of the large format color scanner with USB interface is introduced first. For the characteristics of a large quantity of data transmission, a high-speed communicaton interface is implemented by using the USB2.0 interface chip CY7C68013 produced by CYPRESS Inc. The whole design scheme of USB communication interface based on TWAIN is given, as well as the details of the design and implementation of firmware of the interface chip, USB device driver and data source. The interface takes advantage of the line buffer method with multi-thread skills to improve the efficiency of data transmission of the image in the system.Finally, some methods about debugging, testing and maintaining are discussed. The test of bottom layer software system integrated with hardware system shows that technical parameters of communication interface designed in this paper can meet with the project requirements and run steadily.
