Now the quantity of issued banknotes is huge, which makes the banknote's unified management and checking its authenticity become increasingly difficult. The way which is used to check banknote's authenticity is more, but it is a very important way to check paper currency's authenticity by managing paper currency number. Based on this background, this paper designs a kind of banknote number recognition solution.This paper is divided into four parts which will give a comprehensive analysis to the system. First of all, we will design a character recognition algorithm process for the system. In the design process, we pay close attention to the recognition rate of the algorithm and the algorithm efficiency which will enable the system to get the correct results in the premise of minimizing the occupation of the processor resources. Secondly, we will design the hardware system which gives full play to the process control performance of FPGA and digital signal processing capability of DSP. Thirdly, we will design the system's logic and driver for the efficient operation of the bottom hardware system. Finally, we will design the constraint rule of PCB and analyse reliability of chip, which will provide solutions for correcting the hardware problems which may be encountered in the process of hardware design and debugging.Now the system has achieved the basic function. After collecting digital image, the digital image will be transferred to the DSP which will process the digital image and display the results through the onboard LCD.
