Antiradiation homing missiles, counter retrodirective jammers and counter-stealth threaten the monostatic radar increasingly with the development of science and technology. Being faced with these threats, Bistatic radar has great potential advantages over its monsattic counterpart. However, there are some questions due to separation of transmitter and receiver: the target position accuracy varies with bistatic geometry; the target can not be detected unless the transmit antenna beams and the receive antenna beams are space synchronized.Firstly, two measurements subsets position accuracy are discussed in this paper. The simplified least square method by combining two measurement subsets is adopted to improve the location performance of the bastatic radar system. The position accuracy of two different multistatic radar configurations is analyzed. Secondly, bistatic radar space synchronization by multibeam is studied. As the target echo power at near range is larger than that of the same target at long range, a method is proposed to decrease the number of beams which are needed to cover the surveilence region. Finally, a fast range processing method which can reduce the number of range cells to be processed is proposed.
