The switching system, with the characteristic of high reliability and flexibility, is the key component in the field of automatic testing. That makes the research on its implementation important. In recent years, LXI, a new type of modular instrument bus, was proposed to satisfy the higher demands of flexibility in the automatic testing system. In LXI protocol, Ethernet was introduced into this area as substitute for traditional instrument bus. So, in this thesis, a designing scheme for LXI switch system is proposed based on ARM9 processor and Linux OS.In the thesis, the LXI standard and reviews of literature are introduced firstly. We analyze the key technologies of matrix switch implementation in detail and propose the system designing proposal in high-level. In low-level, the hardware and software designing are also given, which include drive programming, U-Boot and Linux transplantation. After analyzing the requirement to LAN and WEB in LXI system, the configuration of LAN and WEB interface are designed to apply in system. And then the implementation of VXI-11 is also presented in this paper, which makes the LXI system possess the function of discovery and recognition. Finally, the SCPI interpreter and its corresponding instruction set are given.In the end of the paper, we test the detailed performance of LXI matrix switch. The results show that the LXI instruments we designed are reasonable and the application software runs stable. And the performance of module of matrix switch can satisfy all requirement of the system mentioned above.
