This article introduces the characteristics of planar PV-PBG structure of Mushroom-like type ,analyse the formation of the surface-wave bandgap and same-phase reflecting phase bandgap, summed up the the equivalent circuit model and the LRCC model of the Mushroom-like PBG structure, put forward the application of the CLRH transmission-line theory to the analysis of surface-wave bandgap.Based on the analysis we study the compact and dual-bandgap design.The paper focuses on influence of the structural parameters to the surface-wave bandgap and the same-phase reflection phase bandgap, contrasts the analysis reasult of the equivalent circuit model,LRCC model and CLRH model, summarizes the advantages and disadvantages of those modal,verify the validity of the CLRH model and analyse the ralationship of the surface-wave bandgap and reflecting phase bandship. Through the loading slot on the patch of the traditional PV-PBG structure, we achieve decreasing of the bandgap center frequency and the dual- bandgap. By the discussion, the PBG structure is applied to microstrip antenna.By the PV-PBG structure coplanar loading , the radiation of forward-gain of the microstrip antenna increases and the back-gain decreases.At same time, the PV-PBG structure is applied to the antenna array to decrease the mutual coupling between the antenna cell and get the performance improvement of the antenna array.
