Not only is the book Journalism a concrete demonstration of the evolution and development of Xu's news ideology, what truly matters is his thorough penetration into the nature, derivation, function, edit, press management, ethics and talent philosophy of journalism in China. As the beacon, these ideas enlightened the country in ushering into a new era of mass dissemination, which are still of great academic value to many scholars. Xu Baohuang, as the first person to introduce the concept to China, with his long-established reputations and enduring praises among the circle, lived up to the name of "father of journalism" in China.
