With the development of grid technology it has become a hot topic today that solving the interoperability of heterogeneous resources, eliminating information isolated island, in the grid environment.Grid technology has conducted research and practice in many fields, achieved remarkable results,especialy in the inherent advantages of achieve interoperability being very widely used. Ancient peoples is an important carrier of traditional culture, the precious wealth of minority cultures and an important part of Chinese culture. This paper will study interoperability heterogeneous of ancient literature resources of national in grid environment.This paper introduces the status of Resource Sharing and interoperability, while introducing the basic concepts ,nature and characteristics of grid technology, demonstrates the feasibility of using grid technology to achieve interoperability of national ancient books, and On this basis, proposing grid operating system model of inter-national ancient books in the grid environment.This system model is proposed referring to grid and Web technology, using metadata interoperability approach to achieve interoperability of system resources, making use of grid architecture and Web service to shield the heterogeneous of underlying resources, among which the key to implementation of the system that resource discovery, acquisition and reorganization in grid layer, also the basis for providing interoperability. Resources found uses resources registration,and resource acquisition and restructuring use of OAI-PMH protocol for metadata harvesting and complete integration.The system is put under grid environment, relying on the grid providing outside interface and services , and the grid service implementation was studied.In the system, metadata interoperability is based on three levels to achieve,that is semantics, syntax and protocol. Based on referring international metadata standard , combining ethnic characteristics of ancient literature,the system uses DC metadata standard. Following the completion of resource discovery and metadata collection, the harvest metadata is cleaned and integrated, and according to its own national characteristics of ancient books, the metadata is Classified according to content as class books, inscribed class, talking and singing classes , the instrument type.Finally, the search of grid resources is studied, according to the characteristics of grid nodes , and based on the element database ,completed design of interoperability of national ancient books retrieval system, and completed achieving MDS server of grid search of resources. As the users are provided a unified entrance, users feel like using a local repository in the same way as using heterogeneous, and distributed information resources of national ancient books.
