Modern virtual reality technology originated in the sixties of last century. But for decades, virtual reality technology has only been used as a high-end industrial design, aerospace, military areas, has little affects on our daily lives. With the rapid development of computer hardware, a new tide wave on virtual reality research has been launched. During the past ten years, computer comes to ordinary people and virtual technology have gradually infiltrate into people's daily lives which generate a tremendous impact. As a branch of virtual reality technology, the desktop PC-based virtual reality system expand into television, entertainment, education and other daily life. The desktop PC-based Virtual Reality systems are usually contacts with users directly, only has a good real-time users and authenticity can a good experience, to achieve the "virtual reality" effect.In this thesis, we regard the marine scene simulation as the main research object, focusing on its "real time" and "authenticity", describes some research we have engage for years. In this thesis the following subjects are discussed in detail:1. The simulation of fish:The fish are divided into two categories, shoal of fish and a single fish, shoal of fish are usually composed of hundreds of fish. An observer is usually concerned with the overall shape, rather than each fish. We used patches of fish to do the simulation, in order to achieve good real-time. Some need to show the details of the fish, we use skeletal animation for its simulation.2. Caustic effect of the simulation of water:Caustic is a complex physical process, the simulation of its effect based physical principles often takes too much time. in order to it rapidly,we use the dynamic texture and the projection mapping techniques.3. Submarine bubbles simulation:we construction of a general particle system and also consider how the bubbles are affected by it's circumstances.4. Ocean wave simulation:The current commonly methods used sine function and Fourier transform and others based on mathematical calculations to model the wave height, which have a lot of computation, and can't meet the demand of large scene simulation. Here, we use a high degree of map data as the source of its height, which reduce computation largely. In addition, there is another advantage, for wave simulation in different weather condition, what we need to do is just change the height map, while you have to use different method to model the height data in ordinary methods, which cost a lot of time.In this paper, we try to use new methods to simulate the ocean scene and combine, the animation with virtual reality, these methods can also be used in other scene simulation.
