In the outdoor science activities, the boffin often requires portable equipments to record vast amounts of experimental data immediately for future analysis. But, at present, data acquisition system on the market, often can not simultaneously have high-speed, mass storage, portable tote and other characteristics. In the above context, our research on SATA hard disks array emerges. In this systerm, ARM is set to be the management core, FPGA is used as the transfer bridge and SATA hard disks being the storage medium.This systerm have large capacity and could work without computer. In the process of gathering data, PCI-X1.0 protocol is used in order to have a high-speed transfer performance. And, when playing back, USB interface is used to communicate with the computer. USB interface is Simple and common, it reduces the complexity of the system.The research of this thesis is based on the exsited hardware platform. At first, the thesis optimized the basic functional modules, analysised of the factors that affect system stability. After finding out the causation, it improved the PCI-X host bridge performance, so the bus could work stably at 133MHz transmission. Then the thesis developed the data transfer process from the hard disk to the computer in the low-level driver, and verified the correctness of programmes, realized the playback function. At last, it studied the way how to manage the document of the systerm.
