Victor Morosco, born in 1936, is an international renowned classical saxophone music virtuoso performer, Jazz performer, composer, and educator of saxophone. He is also a clinician. Victor Morosco not only wrote many works of saxophone and other woodwind instruments and Orchestra, but also devoted himself to the research and development of American Jazz. In 1981, he recorded the album “Double Exposure”, which included his famous work “Blue Caprice”. In this thesis, I researched his classic work “Blue Caprice” because of his outstanding contribution for the creation and performance of saxophone.This thesis is divided into three sections. The first part introduces Victor Morosco’s life experience and the creation background of “Blue Caprice”. The second part detailed analyzed this work’s musical language. And the third part described its performance techniques in detail. I deeply analyzed “Blue Caprice” in performance style, performance techniques and cultural backgrounds for other saxophone players to play this work better and gave some useful suggestions for saxophone players.
