With the rapid development of Chinese economics and the constant improvement of Chinese international status foreigners are eager to learn Chinese language and Chinese c ulture."Chinese fever" continues to heat up, which brings unprecedented opportunities and ch allenges to teaching Chinese as a foreign language.Teaching Chinese as a foreign langu age is not only a language teaching, teaching, but also a cultural teaching,folk culture is also a n integral part of Chinese culture.among the cross-cultural communications, the folk custom c ulture is the one of the most national characteristics, the formation of the words, the develop ment of vocabularies and the use of idioms are restricted by the folk culture, so the process of teaching Chinese as a foreign language is the one of folk cultural exchanges,which puts fo rward a certain requirement on the teaching material of teaching Chinese as a foreign Ian guage, folk cultural knowledge should be penetrated into the teaching material, which offer te achers the reference when teaching and offers students reference when studying.Of the exi sting teaching materials, Chinese folk cultures are covered to different degrees, but the ratios are small, in the teaching materials,there are something wrong,more or less,with the selectio n of folk culture content, the embodiment of the folk culture purpose and the revelation of th e connotation of the folk culture,the writing of folk culture in the textbooks is worth of notici ng.The teachers of teaching Chinese as a foreign language must also have a good cultural q uality and the corresponding cross-cultural knowledge, become a bridge to communicate with the world and spread Chinese cultural knowledge.In view of the reasons above, this paper made the following several studies:firstly, on the basis of predecessors’ research, the author summarized the definitions of folk culture, classified the items of the folk culture,the classification method benefits to the arrangement of folk culture content which appears in the text below in teaching material, and points out the important position of folk culture in teaching Chinese as a foreign language.Secondly, briefly introduce Developing Chinese (comprehensive course), where investigation and simple statistics on the items of folk culture are carried out, find that the different writings of folk culture contents exist in elementary, intermediate and advanced teaching materials.The last part of this paper find that the present situation and the insufficiency of the writing of folk culture contents by analyzing the choice and use of the folk culture in Developing Chinese(comprehensive course),and give the suggestions on the writing of the folk culture content in the teaching materials, put forward the principles which the textbook should follow,come up with the ideas about the teachers of teaching Chinese as a foreign language from the perspective of folk culture teaching.
