With the “Chinese Fever” continues to heat up, more and more foreigners are intouch with Chinese learning. Language is the carrier of culture and culture is the core oflanguage. In second language learning, the learners are not only to learn the languagestructure, but also to learn the culture.Folk culture is an altogether of aspects of etiquette, fashion and habits of a nation.It restricts our life style, inherits our living wisdom and affects our ways ofinterpersonal relationship. Folk culture is the portrayal of the society and it is what theforeign learners get most contact and deepest feeling in their daily life. So, folk cultureteaching is a big part in Chinese culture teaching. However, folk culture teachingnowadays needs to be improved. So here discuss the Chinese folk culture teaching andget the specific teaching methods based on some theories and foreigners’ learningneeds.Firstly introduces the conception of Chinese folk culture. Secondly does a researchon reading and summarizing on teaching Chinese culture/folk culture to foreigners.Thirdly analyses the advantages and shortcomings in folk culture teaching nowadays,from teaching principle, teachers, teaching material and teaching methods. Fourthlydoes a learning needs questionnaire to Thai students. The teaching methods are putforward from students’ interest, how to choose teaching material, teaching contents andteaching acts based on this survey and teaching theories, which prompts the discussionon how to teach Chinese folk culture in Thailand. At last, four specific teaching methodsare achieved: combine students’ interest and Chinese language items; use differentmethods in different Chinese levels; teaching in the community education mode;method of multimedia technology assisted teaching. It shows that these methods guidethe folk culture teaching activities very well.The research aims at providing some practical references in teaching andguarantying Chinese folk culture to spread smoothly. Also it prompts a new researchpoint----teaching Chinese folk culture in a special school-running mode.
