Japanese post-war drama, from 1945 to 1965, the theme of them is about reflections and reconstruction after World War II during twenty years. I will describe the political metaphor in Japanese post-war drama in different three aspects at this master thesis. They are the criticism of beliefs changing, the mental reconstruction of Japanese people under American occupation forces and Japanese-American relationship at the atomic bomb explosion drama. They show the development and vicissitude of Japanese intellectuals and common people’s self-cognition. We can see Japanese mental outlook and the change of people identity cognition and mental reconstruction at social political upheaval after post-war clearly.
