Lu Xixiong(1734—1792), also named Jiannan, Ershan, was born in Shanghai county of Songjiang prefecture. He passed the highest imperial examinations in Qianlong twenty-six years(in 1761), served as secretary, and held the rank of the left vice imperial censor before retirement. At last, he died in office on proofing reading in Fengtian in Qianlong fifty-seven years(in 1792). He was a custodian of proofreading<The Yongle Canon>, and compiling<The Si Ku Quan Shu> with Ji Yun.His writings are < Huang Cun Poetry> and <Bao Kui Hall Essays >, and each of these writings has twelve rolls. All the above-mentioned are according to <The Epitaph of Left Vice Imperial Censor of Procuratorate Lu Xixiong>, written by Wang Chang.In Lu Xixiong’s life, he wrote and edited a number of books, occupied an important position on the literary world at that time, and the topic has a certain literary and historical value. But so far, there is no special research in this country at domestic and foreign. This thesis uses the latest materials, includes mainly three aspects,inheritance, literary creation and academic research, in order to make a macro and micro research,and to establish his historical position and literary achievements.The first chapter of the thesis mainly explores the inheritance of Lu Xixiong’s family studies while combing the Cultural heritage of Lu in Pudong. The second chapter starts from the poetry and prose, based on the characteristics of art and genre, combs Lu Xixiong’s literary creation. The third chapter analyzes that as a scholar, how much Lu Xixiong had contributed to<The Si Ku Quan Shu>.
