Humour translation holds prominent significances to understanding cultural differences and promoting communication. Humour can be divided into two types: verbal humour and non-verbal humour. This report examines Unit 2 and 3 of The Language of Humour by Alison Ross,1998. This report summarized the text features of academic writings and discussed the problems during the translation of English jokes such as misunderstanding and equivalent-expression. The practice report discusses the translation strategies of English jokes and provides methods and references to E-C translation of English jokes. It also offers useful materials to the theoretical basis of domestic English humour studies.
