Helene Cixous is one of the leading figures of the French New Feminism, also known in British and American as a famous postmodern feminist theorist.In the 1970 s,Helene Cixous proposed the theory of “female writing”,calling on women to actively write, to highlight the theme of femininity through the body writing and to awaken female subject consciousness.“Female writing” theory as a new theory discourse,its objective is twofold:on the one hand,in Cixous’ s opinion,female writing is encouraging femininity, calling for constructing language expression spectrum which belongs to women,let the woman to get rid of silence.On the other hand, the liberation of women is not only the purpose, but also the means to deconstruct patriarchal culture and dualistic thinking.Form the perspective of women liberation,Cixous explored the repression and exclusion on woman in the field of family, politics and literature which is leaded by the western logos culture,and she further elaborated the important role of female writing in subverting the logo’s doctrine culture.The beginning of paper inquiry the current situation about "female writing" theory of Helene Cixous.The first part of the paper analyzes French philosophy proposition "body, language and other”,which is the academic background of “female writing” theory.Besides,because Cixous’ works have the autobiography feature,the introduction of Cixous’ s personal experience will be interspersed.In the second part to the fifth part of this thesis,the paper unravels keywords of" female writing”theory: “other”,Body Writing”, “Female Language”. "The other" is the core keywords of "female writing" theory of Cixous,and the main characteristic of femininity is the attitude to the other and the tolerance of diversity.Cixous advocated the female to write through listening to voices from the unconscious and writing the repressed female body, the part of which belongs to primitive vitality and the desire of women unique body experience.By doing that things,the female body will come back from the phallus doctrine.The fourth part is to explore the distinguishing feature of Cixous’ s language---poetic, ambiguous features and the consciousness stream of perceptual intuition way of writing,and make a thorough inquiry for how to construct female language.The last part of the paper is to make a brief evaluation of this theory, while affirming its role model for theoretical guidance and practical woman writing, but also to see the utopian and mysticism of this theory,and cogitate whether it is feasible to construct language detached from social reality.
