The Master of Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages(MTCSOL) professional degree is aiming to cultivating more professional personnel to adjust the new trending of teaching Chinese as a foreign language.Practice teaching is a crucial section in the process of cultivating MTCSOL, and practice teaching abroad is one of the most common approaches. However, the related studies and case analysis are not sufficient at present.Under such research background, the paper selects MTCSOL’s practice teaching abroad as the research object, sets the TAG(Talal Abu Ghazaleh)-Confucius Institute as the example. It uses investigation, case analysis, comparison, and summarizing approaches to study the current situation as well as the existing problems in the process of MTCSOL’s practice teaching in TAG-Confucius Institute. And then throws out some suggestions according to the problems.The paper consists of fiveparts. The first preface part introduces the reason and recent research status in Chinaof the chosen topic. It also summarizes the significance of the study and introduces the main research approaches. The second part focuses on the overall introduction of TAG-Confucius Institute. It mainly introduces the basic information of TAG-Confucius Institute, Shenyang Normal University, and TAG Organization as well as the recent teaching status here.The third part mainly talks about the MTCSOL’s practice teaching conditionsin the TAG-Confucius Institute. The author introduces the internship conditions from the following four parts, including practitioners, teaching sites, practice procedures, and the effects of practice teaching. It introduces the training, supervision, implementation, and evaluation of MTCSOL’s internship procedures at length.The fourth partdetailedly introduces the existing problems in MTCSOL’s internship process in TAG-Confucius Institute. The problems are described from the angles of TAG-Confucius Institute’s construction, Chinese teaching and practitioners. According to the analysis, the author finds that the TAG-Confucius Institute has the problems in its’ basic construction, for instance the shortage of teachers, and inattentive management. In teaching part, there are some problems as follows, the single type and non-correspondence to HSK about the teaching materials, single type of courses, as well as the defective evaluation system for teachers. What’s more, the practitioners also have some problems, such as unstable specialized foundation, insufficient teaching experience, lack of traditional Chinese talents, and imperfect English.According to the MTCSOL’s practice teaching situations and the extant problems, the last part puts forward a series of recommendations to the related organizations and the practitioners independently. Correspondingly, TAG-Confucius Institute should strengthen the self-construction and improve the Curriculum Provision; Shenyang Normal University should expand the channels of teaching practice for the students and enhance the practice supervision; Hanban should improve the system of selecting the Chinese volunteer teachers and heighten the pertinence of the training. Besides, the paper gives some practical suggestions to the practitionersas well, such as improve the ability of teaching, cross-cultural communication, and independent living. |
