Liang Qichao 's Study Of Thought And His Outlook On Life

As an important figure in the academic history of modern China, Liang Qichao’s thought of learning method is worth paying attention. The thought of outlook on life permeate In Liang Qichao’s thought of learning. His outlook on life is based on the debate about science and metaphysics. He believes that life is synthesized from mind and things. We hang a kind of ideal to complete this kind of life, which is called outlook on life. Liang Qichao’s outlook on life is from Confucianism and Buddhism and is the foundation of interest. In his later period, his outlook on life was based on Confucius and Lao Tzu.His outlook on life is fully reflected in his ideas of learning. In the <learning and conducting oneself>, he proposed the three virtues of Confucianism as the education which conduct oneself to become a man who is wise, unworried and brave. The ethics which has philosophy of life is more important than the philology which organize national cultural heritage. Ethics should be introspected to practice. Liang Qichao clearly defines the scope of science. On the one hand, Liang Qichao opposed scientism view of life and think that scientific theory will lead the alienation and mechanization of human life, modern Europeans excessively reliance on "the omnipotence of science" and lose the fundamental of mind. On the other hand,Liang Qichao also support the view that we should have limited scientific spirit. He affirmed the academic contribution of the Qian-jia School. He thinks that thescientific spirit will be applied to the study of literature. He holds the view that if scholars are lack of scientific spirit, it will bring some diseases which is general,arbitrary, hypocrisy, conventionality and dissipation. Liang Qichao also analysis the two wrong attitude of Chinese: the first is the view that a skilled person is not the best one. The second is narrowing range of scientific research. In the era of Liang Qichao,many changes have taken place in Chinese academic discourse system. The Only Doctrine became popular. Liang Qichao believed that this method has two advantages:the first is to can avoid general defect of thought; the second is clear-cut and easy to spread. But from the point of view on life, the truth is not the word "only" can be summed up, scholar should praise highly The Only Doctrine. Liang Qichao advocated "not only" in the methodology in order to warn scholars not to be caught in the pitfalls of mechanical and monism. Liang Qichao not only put the doctrine of interest as his outlook on life and regard it as his life power. At the same time, he also make it connect with studying. As far as the purpose of education is concerned, Liang Qichao believes that education must have a purpose, and education should be taught as a principle of sympathy, honesty, hard work, and strength.In Liang Qichao’s thoughts of learning, we can draw the following revelation:The first is to establish the academic discourse system which has the national and cultural autonomy to the independent spirit in exploring the road of Chinese culture.The second is to find the balance point in the spirit of science and philosophy on life,we should have a prudent attitude of technology to keep their mind and the heart pure complete freedom.
