A Preliminary Study On The Graphic Design Style Of Chinese Commodity Packaging In The Early Stage Of Reform And Opening

The early period of reform and opening up is an important historical stage in China’s development course, but we still have a shallow research on the design works during that period. Most of design works have just been mentioned with few words in the design history. Our understanding and research on plane package during the early period of reform and opening up remains at a preliminary stage, when we are talking about the design from the aspect of package. It has a great practical significance to explore local design language and the design form that has ever appeared before but hasn’t been incorporated into Chinese mainstream form of design.The thesis will discuss the matter from five parts. The first part is about introduction, and the second part about background discussion, talking about the definition of the research targets and the related historical background during the early period of reform and opening up. The third part focuses on design style comparison and briefly analyzes the several major representations affecting small commodity package plane design styles during that period. The fourth part is an exploration of the practical significance, and it summarizes the graphic design styles in the packages of small co mmodities during the initial stage of the reform and open-up, and explores its signific ance to China’s modern graphic design. Part five is a conclusion.The thesis will conduct research in combination of overall style and individual cases. That means, after classifying the materials in hand, the thesis specifies the matter with the help of same typical cases. The method of analogue comparison is mainly used in the thesis by comparing the plane design at different historical stages at home and abroad to prove the reality and uniqueness of China’s plane design in small commodity package during the early period of reform and opening up.
