The royal family is a special group on the political stage in early T’ang Dynasty. It is not only the important emperor consolidate ruling power and the emperor to strengthen the main threat to the sovereignty. So how to play the best role through effective management of the royal family? This is the problem to be solved by the emperor to consolidate his rule. As for understanding about the political culture of the T’ang Dynasty deeply and widely, it is of great importance to based on related researches about Royal family management. There exist many achievements on academic researches of the Royal family in T’ang Dynasty at home and abroad, but there is still research space in the overall discussion on the management of T’ang royal family, which is also the focal point of this paper.To discuss the management of T’ang royal family,this paper can be divided into five parts. The concrete structures are as follows:The first part is the introduction part of this article. It mainly discusses the reasons of selecting this topic, and the definition of some related concepts. Meanwhile, it is also about the reviews on research history of the Royal management in early T’ang Dynasty. Finally, it describes the research ideas and research methods of this paper briefly.The second part is the first chapter of this paper. It mainly introduces the relevant agencies that are responsible for the management of royal family in early T’ang Dynasty. There are two main Royal management systems running at the same time:the central management system and prince’s officers. The former is made up of political affairs institution and routine affairs institution. The latter there were several grades of royal prince in the T’ang system of nobility. Among all the organizations, Tsung-cheng ssu, which is in charge of the collation of the royal family membership, and ssu-feng, which is responsible for being knighted of the royal family, are central government agencies. While Ministry of Rites、the honglu Temple and T’ai chang ssu are jointly responsible for the management of daily routine of royal family. The princes, who are knighted and get the permission to own their own official positions. It is the running of these organizations that the emperor in early T’ang Dynasty can not only ensure the power of royal family, but also strengthen the management of the Royal family.The third part of this paper is the second chapter. It mainly discusses the main ways of the management of royal family. The ways are in four aspects, education, marriage, politics and crime. These include the main path of every members of the Royal family, from their childhood to entering the official career. To be specific, the ways mainly includes:The organizations and contents, thoughts and characteristics of the royal family education; The situations political intentions of royal marriage; The ways, working conditions, and characteristics of entering official career of royal family;The punishments and the relief features of the crime of the royal family. The author try to discuss the ways, intentions and changes of strengthening the management of royal family by the emperor in early T’ang Dynasty from these aspects.The fourth part of this paper is the third Chapter. It mainly discusses the political changes of the management of royal family in early T’ang Dynasty. The management mainly experienced three stages. The first one was the dependence and reusing-of the royal family by Kao-tsu. During this period,the power of royal family strengthened rapidly, but the emperor lost the absolute control of royal family gradually. The second one was the value and restrictions on the royal family of T’ai-tsung. During this period, the power of royal family had been limited through some management policies, besides, These let the emperor take back military and political power and protect society stages of the royal family at the same time. The third one was prevention and suppression of the royal family of Kao-tsung. The symbol of this period was the set up of Tsung-cheng ssu. In this period, the emperor gradually strengthened the management and at the same time deprived the political power of royal family. Thus these led to the talent dying situation of Li T’ang royal family.The fifth part is the fourth chapter of this paper. It mainly analyses the impact on the management of the royal family. It mainly reflects in the following aspects:The royal family’s social status had been fluctuating with the strengthening of royal family management; The Royal political power was from celebrated to gradually weakened during the period of Kao-tsu, and it had even been cut to a very weak point during the period of Kao-tsung; With the cutting down of royal power, the power of the monarch had been strengthened, and the emperor had a more independent stance to choose and judge the politics; The emperor began to gradually peel from the Royal Group, and became an independent political entity. While the royal family depended the Emperor day by day, and gradually became bureaucracy.In short, as an important political power, the royal family had always been valued and used by the emperor. So research on the management of the royal family is helpful to the understanding of the political situation in early T’ang Dynasty, and it is also useful to explore the political and cultural history after middle T’ang Dynasty.
