Patriotism has been formed since ancient times. Its connotation and essence are changing with the development of times. Three Kingdoms period and Unified Silla period has a relatively more patriotic literature and documents are handed down to later generations. This paper is based on the period from 57 BC, the founding of Silla, to 936 AD, when Unified Silla perished. The research subject is the patriotic literature works in this period. This paper studies works such as "Three Kingdoms Historical Records", "Samguk Yusa", works written by Choe Chi-won, and other related patriotic literature works. This paper summarizes and analyzes the features and significance of patriotic literature from some history books, personal corpus and abstract systems which lie in literature works.The research methods of this paper are mainly based on philology and history of literature, that is, conduct literature historical analysis to literature works and documents, under the guidance of a longitudinal investigation. South Korea’s patriotism also experienced a process from weak to strong, from loose to condensation, which also combined with many national features, and the concrete forms have its own distinctive national features.The thesis bases on the Three Kingdoms period and Unified Silla period literature, including the prevailing literature and the later complete relative documents. The significance of this study lies in revealing the early development of the Korean patriotic spirit and summarizing the characteristics of the Korean national patriotism. The thesis has great reference value for today’s deep study of the Korean patriotic spirit. Furthermore, it promotes the development of the study on Chinese patriotic spirit.
