| In the middle of the 19th century, industrialization development in France brought massive reshaping of the social disciplines. At that time, Baudelaire sensitively realized that the old concept of aesthetics was not suitable to convey the beauty of times while the new aesthetic concept was still in its infancy. He chose to enter into the art world in the way of criticism that he pointed out the problems in the art field and integrated his totally different aesthetic ideas in it. He longed for influencing the artists, critics and even the public inherent opinion he highlighted by criticizing. It echoed the words of Foucault, "to strip some obvious and generally accepted concepts", which aims to break the authority of classic beauty, dig the little-known modern beauty, and restore their repressed sense organs. Indeed, Baudelaire succeeded in that his art criticism made a new breakthrough for the later artists and finally ushered a big wave in the modern art genre after his death. Deconstruction movement in the traditional art prevailed, which influenced the course of art history. Taking Baudelaire as a study case, this thesis reviews the era he was active by analyzing his criticism texts, and assesses the significance of his art criticism and aesthetics meaning for later generations so as to reflect the role of art criticism in the supplement and correction of art history. |
