This study aims to summarize the different characteristics of classroom questioning under different teaching modes on the basis of observation. In order to optimize the classroom questioning and fill in the blank and deficiencies in current academic circles in the aspect, this study takes the classroom questioning as a kind of teaching skills to research and analysis and puts forward effective suggestions to improve classroom questioning.Research Methods in this study include classroom recording, classroom observation and interviews and so on. It discusses different classroom questionings from types of questions, methods, objects, distribution, waiting time, feedback, etc. It leads to some advices in the aspects of the teacher’s questioning words, questioning behavior and questioning feedback, and sums up the enlightenments for both in and out of the classroom.There are mainly five chapters:The first chapter gives an introduction. This part mainly introduces reasons for the selected topic and the significance of the study. It also includes the literature review of classroom questioning and defines the relevant concepts of this research.The second chapter introduces the study design and methods. This chapter mainly introduces the object and the purpose of this study, thought and process, research methods and the transfer rules used in this study.The third chapter gives the discussion and analysis on the investigation results of the U.S. summer language program P. This chapter firstly makes a detailed introduction to language project P, then investgates teacher T1’s classroom questioning from various views. Through the statistical analysis of investigation results, it finds and summarizes some characteristics in the classroom questioning of teacher T1 in Program P.The fourth chapter gives the discussion and analysis on the investigation results of the Chinese language classes in university M. This chapter uses the same way of writing as in the previous chapter. It firstly makes a detailed introduction of student’s language classes in university M, and then investgates teacher T2’s classroom questioning from multiple perspectives. Through the statistical analysis of investigation results, it summarizes some characteristics in the classroom questioning of teacher T2 in university M.The fifth chapter gives the conclusion and revelation. This chapter is the summary of the research above. It mainly involves three aspects of content:The first one is to investigate the different influence in classroom questioning under the different teaching modes; The second is to put forward some common strategies when using question as one of the teaching skills; The third is to summarize suggestions and enlightenments for Chinese as a foreign language class questioning based on the study. In addition, this part introduces the problems and the limitations of this study.
