The narrative of the “Redneck town” novels is a conspicuous literaryphenomenon in1980s.No matter in the sociological significance, or in thehistory of literature significance, it is unique. However, the relevantpaper of the narrative of the “Redneck town” novels in1980s isrelatively scattered, and the status and significance in the history ofliterature is not get enough attention. Therefore, this paper is basedon the type analysis and text, and based on the country people’s division,under the background of social Opening Up, the household contractresponsibility system and the reform of the household registration system,discussing the difficulties of countrymen, the choice of town and country,and the value of “Redneck town” novels.This thesis is mainly divided into three parts, the introduction, bodyand conclusion. In the introduction, firstly, discuss the problem oforigins of the narrative of the “Redneck town” novels in1980s from theperspective of sociology and the significance of literary history;Secondly, based on the study of the narrative of the “Redneck town”novels on1980s researching, to understand of this research field obtainedachievements and existing.On the whole, to found the missing novels of“Redneck town” in1980s, and to explain it’s value and significancein the history of literature. The main body from three chapters to discussand expound, the main contents are as follows:The opening section, analyze and interpret the types ofthe countrymen. Based on the specific interpretation and analysis of thenarrative of the “Redneck town” novels in1980s, divided into for sale,changes of residence, individual operators and migrant workers andaccidentally——four types from the start of text details. To analyze thecountrymen’s different characteristics, to reveal the huge cost of hard work, to explore the conflict between urban and rural areas, and theconfrontation harm to people in the countryside, delving the causationwhich they are confronted with. In the paper, I will to discuss theposition and angle of the writers and to consider why the writers formedthe common value orientation and emotional tone.The second section, I am going to expound the countrymen’s choicesbetween town and country. Since the mid-1980s, the policy graduallyrelaxed, the countrymen can go into town to deal, business, working andstudying freely. Chasing town became a trend of the times. Meanwhile,There are a large number of countrymen sticking to their homeland andrefusing to go into town. In the face of the lack of culture and moralperversity in the city, some countrymen returned to theirhometown, returning to the traditional value. The discussion aboutcountrymen’s spirit and mentality are the key point of the paper.The third section,to judge the value and meaning of the “Rednecktown” novels. This section is based upon1980s special meaning, fromsocial change and the spirit of the times, paying close attention partlyfocusing on the bottom, to express the countrymen’s economicconsciousness, ecological consciousness and social civilization. Toshow the countrymen’s how to overcome the superstitions and emancipatethe mind. Besides, to express the rural women seeking self-expressionand self–actualization’s possibility, revealing the writers how toface with people’s tragic fate and how to show their humanistic care.The conclusion part, there is the extension of the main contentsand gives a further reflection on this thesis. It included lack of artistry,the central theme, and how to influence the literature in the new century.
