In this thesis, the figures in1980s Hunger narrative fiction is the main object of study.By examining the characteristics of the characters, this thesis is trying to sort out the logicalstarting point and the Evolution of this period of hunger narrative and to explore a variety ofdiscourse modes in characters constructing and ideological issues behind that.First to enter the field of view is the image of the right-wing intellectuals in the text,Since the1980s, a large number of the “Return Writers” based on their own personalexperience, using the right-wing intellectuals as the main object of their works. Cong Weixi,Lu Yanzhou, Wang Meng, Zhang Xianliang are the representative writers of that,they alsoshaped famous characters as Luo Qun, Fan Hanru, Zhang Yonglin, Zhong Yicheng, a largenumber of distinct characteristics rightist characters in their works. Because of the impact ofvarious factors, these right-wing intellectuals, showing a unique “Hero Passion” image modein the text, When describing these characters, writers are deliberately weakening the disasterthey had suffered, and do not go questioning the reasons behind it. Emphasize the firm beliefof mentally fearless to suffering and the courage of facing the problem calmly. For thisphenomenon, the paper in the first chapter analysis and discuss in three aspects,which are thetype of right-wing intellectuals characters, characteristics and the underlying causes of thismartyrdom hero depiction. At the same time,this paper will analysis the causes behind this“Hero Passion” writing style such as the writer emotion, social context, ideology and otherfactors influence one by one.Second is the image of farmers, because of its natural connection to food productions asfarmers became the recurring characters in hunger narrative text. But before the hungernarrative works in the1980s, the hunger of farmers are rarely able to enter the field ofliterature from the front,Their demands of hunger are concealed by national and politicalgrand narratives,their pain of hunger and anxiety are eased by various ideological discourse.Until the early1980s, the liberal discourse atmosphere coupled with the promotion of thehousehold contract responsibility system, farmers hunger narrative image is no longerconfined to a single “Food Satisfied” mode.
