A Study On The Narrative Strategy Of "Historical Records"

The Biographies of Historical Records are the relatively high part of Historical Records,which both stand for the true level of Si Maqian’s writing and also show his values in life and literary views. As for the peak of China’s conventional narrative literature, Biographies of Historical Records have made a significant contribution not only to the narrative contents but also to the narrative methods in the development of China’s narrative literature. Based on the contemporary narrative theories, the thesis makes a study on the narrative methods of Biographies.Specifically, the thesis has four main components: in the first part, the different folks of Biographies were categorized according to Si Maqian’s values in life and literary views; in the second part, on the basis of the theory of the narrative focalization, we discussed the Biographies’ s characteristics of focusing on selecting about the narrative materials and the narrative point of observation. At the same time, we also put forward our arguments; in the third part, premised on the understanding of the theory of related Narrative Voice, we researched the Biographies’ s characteristics on the strategies of the Narrative Voice; in the last part, in process of analyzing the Biographies’ s methods of the Narration Rhythm, we considered that Si Maqian adopted the approach of alternating between rapid narrative and slow narrative to the Biographies. Only in this way, can we learn the particular narrative effects of the Biographies.In short, although the Biographies are the traditional narrative literature, they still play a big role on enriching our narrative strategies. So in contemporary, the thesis provides a feasible perspective for us to the study of Historical Records.
