The Study On The Characters Of "Historical Records"

As the first general history of biography in Chinese history,Historical Records is not only a model of ancient Chinese historiography,but also a great historical biography literature which depicts countless vivid characters.The main characters and deeds of the group of comic figures are concentrated in the Biography of Comic Tales.Sima Qian selected Chunyukui,Youmeng and Youzhan as three typical comic figures,and focused on recording some typical cases happened to them.Through the interpretation and definition of "funny" in pronunciation and meaning,this paper presents Sima Qian’s unique understanding of funny characters.Sima Qian used the combination of reality and fiction,typification and detailed description to analyze the specific performance of the characters in specific cases,showing that the comic characters are not only "funny",but also have multiple characteristics such as advisors,benevolent people,wise men and so on.The significance and influence of funny characters are reflected in history and literature.They not only correct the names of funny characters,highlight the way of euphemism and ridicule,but also initiate theatrical performances,and lay the foundation for the creation of funny characters.
