Yu Yunwen Study

Yu Yunwen(1513-1579),from Kunshan Jiangsu. Yu was a erudite scholar, he has less interest in the imperial examination but rather follow his will and immersed in academic and literature world, even that would cause starving and poverty, this paper is the study about Yu’s life, social relationship and literary works.The paper consists four chapters:Chapter one is the life of Yu Yunwen, which can be divided into two parts by the year of 1547, from 1513 to 1547 Yu obeyed his parents’ will and tried hard on the imperial examination but has no luck. From 1547 to 1579, Yu left the official school, then he spent all his life on the academic world and wrote down a large amount of literary works.Chapter two is the research of Yu Yunwen’s social relationship, including the relationship with the “seven talents” represented by Wong Shizhen and Li Panlong, the relationship with Wen Zhengming and painters in Wu area, the last two sections discussed the communication with the scholars from Yu’s hometown and some other scholars, Yu’s literary reputation has gained a lot from his social relationship.Chapter three is the study of Yu’s poem contents, arranged by the order of landscape and pastoral, life in the army, communications,religious life, meditate the history, the sigh of emotions, from these topic we can get a clearer view of his mental and spiritual life.Chapter four is the study of Yu Yunwen poetry art. Section one analyzed the relationship with painting art and literary art, just like Wang Wei did. Section two studied Yu’s reference in autumn, we can read the description of autumn a lot in Yu’s work which more frequently show in the old age of Yu. Section three is the life details revealed in his poems, which are full of daily life interest.
