With the pace of globalization, the interaction and communication among different nations, countries and regions have become increasingly extensive and frequent. It is of greater significance to learn from foreign cultures and disseminate our ones while having our own voice heard. As one of Chinese folk dance practitioners, our involvement in the dialogue and communication with foreign cultures is essential and crucial, and we have to be competent, prepared and selective to expressive ourselves. Therefore, it is worthwhile and vital to find the right direction of disseminating Chinese folk dance. With one year teaching and intern experience in Czech Republic, the author has realized that the local adaptability of Chinese folk dance needs transformation, and the level of Chinese folk dance teaching needs to be raised through training preeminent Chinese folk dance teacher and students. This thesis is illustrated in three dimensions. First is the horizontal international strategy. From the perspective of international communication between China and the rest of the world, the author analyzed the current condition and international status quo of teaching foreigners Chinese folk dance with a brief introduction of folk dance teaching at Confucius Institute at Palacky University in Czech Republic, through which the necessity and possibility are analyzed regarding developing teaching foreigners Chinese folk dance. The second dimension is vertical and professional investigation based on the author’s overseas teaching experience. The author adopts the theory of Herbart’s ‘four steps pedagogy’with the combination of native oral and body language teaching method and the selection of domestic teaching material, discusses how to integrate Herbart’s pedagogy into teaching foreigners Chinese folk dance. The third dimension is a converse reflection on humane aspects. Through the analysis of cultural difference and bottleneck constrains, the author has investigated Orff’s pedagogy and integrated it into traditional folk dance pedagogy, so as to provide a highly valuable pedagogy for overseas Chinese folk dance teaching.
