“August 13 th Incident” in 1937 in Shanghai is a great affected historical event in the war of resistance against Japan, it is the first great battle to against Japanese in China, and it’s an important symbol of the full-scale war started. The battle of defend the godown of the Joint Savings is an important historical event in Songhu Anti-Japanese War and its means a lot. Surrounded heavily by the Japanese troops,The Lone Battalion fought for four days and nights,holding the field firmly, and caused heavy casualties to the Japanese troops, the brave action greatly inspired the depressed morale of the Anti-Japanese war, and also won the attention and sympathy of the world for China. Facing the invasion of Japanese, The Lone Battalion show the spirit for not afraid of sacrifice and unyielding.In four days and nights of fighting, The Lone Battalion is always a mystery in the fight. The people of Shanghai can see the battle scenes in the concession, and cheer for them, but how can they hold on for a long time under the attack of Japanese troops is still unknown. In these legends, the retreat process of them, the Girl Scout who sent a national flag to them and the specific number of The Lone Battalion is the most concerned.Based on historical materials, the paper conducts a study on The Lone Battalion, identity the legend and misinformation of them, and get some results: receiving the order, The Lone Battalion were covered by its’ machinegun company; except the flag given from Yang Huimin, there are remain 2 flags in the godown; a total number of The Lone Battalion is 420, and 377 of them entered into concession. Comparing the historical materials and memoirs, the paper combined with the latest materials and achievements in pre-research, to verify The Lone Battalion clearly, hoping to complement the lack of study of Songhu Anti-Japanese War.
