A Study Of Li Changqi And His Poems

Li Changqi is a novelist in the Ming dynasty. His novels have undoubtedly significant value in the history of literature. Although, the literature value of his novels cannot compare with that of those composed before and after his times, its important role played in the connection of the development of novel can not be ignored. The research in the academic domain was focused on Li’s novels, but less attention was paid to the research of Li himself. Moreover, there are mistakes for some the existing research materials. This thesis starts from this very viewpoint, it has amended the personal data of Li, including the correctness of his Chronicles, the verification of his writings and his official career.In addition, the studies of Li Changqi’s poetry anthology 《Yun Pi Man Gao》 are less, therefore. To do research on Li’s poetry we can get to understand the characteristics of Li’s compositions and his ideas. The researches are mainly focused on his friends and his travels. From the poetries composed by his friends we can get to know the ideas and the characteristics of the literature fictions accomplished by those who have a lot in common with Li.Finally, by researching on the 《Yun Pi Man Gao》 one can categorize the poetries that can reflect Li’s true feelings. Based on the research on his poetries, from the viewpoint of different roles of Li, one can breakthrough the dull criticism of Li recorded in ancient books so as to restore the real and plump Li Changqi, which can provide valuable information and references for future researchers.
