Professional identity of Chinese majors for international communication is aprocess in which the undergraduates would like to dedicate for their professionalstudy and a successful career, and it can be developed with the environment. Thisresearch was undertaken to explore the overall situation of professional identity andsome of the influencing factors. The research results are expected to offer somereferences both for talents training and promotion of professional identity.The theoretical framework was determined based on the previous researches andan interview with10elitists. And questionaires were carried out to analyze theprofessional identity of185undergraduates in College of International Studies ofHonghe University.The research results show that:1. The average of overall professional identity is somewhat above normalvalue(3point), which tells that the degree stays up to a middle level.2. There is statistical difference in the degree of professional identity in terms ofthe testers’ grade, living place, teaching condition, employment outlook, academicperformance and personal character, while, there is no significant variance in sex andcollege selection.3. Significant correlation is noted between professional identity and the threeexternal settings, and a further analysis has shown that the main influencing factorson the overall professional identity are the testers’ job prospect and the socialsupports.Based on the findings, some suggestions were introduced to improve theeducational system and construction of undergraduates of Chinese majors forinternational communication.
